Back in 1900 the place that today occupies Mama Inés cafe opened as an serrano hams store. One day an old man came by the cafe and told me wistfully that he work there years ago and it was the best serrano hams store at this time in town, reaching the customers line to the Gran Via. The walls of that shop wore with a beautiful marble quarry national, prized for their scarcity and colorful. That marble continues today in all its splendor and history, in every tables of Mama Inés cafe. In the basement room it was the pork killing room, stone basin and ceiling full of hooks bearing witness of that.
Mama Inés opened on Monday, December 13th, 1999, practically began with the twenty-first century. Today, Mama Inés still been an emblematic coffee of Chueca, where you can always see people in the morning taking a coffee, at lunchtime with our new menu, and of course with the best afterwork drinks.
